I LV DC

Hubby and I both love Washington DC. It was one of the first cities I ever left Texas to visit as a teenager and I was completely in awe of the monuments, museums, memorials, and traditions associated with DC. Hubby went to college at G.W. right in the heart of the city. He spent some of the best years of his life there and made some of the most amazing friends. His friends are honestly one of the reasons I fell in love with him. You can always tell a person by the company they keep, and he keeps some fantastic company. Even at our wedding, the best man, Tim, gave his speech and called up all the guys to help. You can't beat that kind of friendship and loyalty.

Oh memories

So naturally, this past weekend was definitely the most bitter sweet time that we have spent in DC. We were saying bye to honestly some of the best people I have ever met. Especially now that the guys have wives, fiances, girlfriends, and babies that I absolutely adore. It makes saying good bye even harder.

We started with a Birthday/Homecoming/Bon Voyage brunch at Old Ebbitt Grill that was fantastic. If you are ever in DC and hungry for not only delicious food, go there. You will not be disappointed! The gentleman sitting on my right was our 'welcome home' guy Tom. He has been stationed overseas in Japan for the last three years and everyone was so glad to have him back stateside.

Almost the whole gang at brunch

Hubby and Tim, the Birthday Boy

Sweet victory!

After day drinking...I mean brunch...we moved on down memory lane and headed to the guys' college hang outs: Froggy Bottom Pub and Buffalo Billiards.

They moved to a new fancy location. No more basement dive bar.

Look! Actual glass cups!

Not everyone was thrilled about the changes. Sorry Bob.

I found out I am terrible at shuffle board

I will miss that crazy bunch, but it won't be long until we are all going to meet up again. We have two weddings in the books so far for this year and everyone has invitations. I just can't wait until someone gets sick of  the cold weather and decides they want a beach vacation. I've already starting bribing them with free room & board and a DD if they come to Pensacola! lol. I hope someone takes us up on the offer sooner rather then later. Yall know you're sick of the snow! Come on down to the beach!

You know you wanna!

Best Birth-Aversary Ever

Oh that sneaky, sneaky Hubby of mine!

He didn't technically lie when he said he was taking me to "see Chicago", but what I thought was going to be this:

Turned into this!

He knows how much I love New York (especially Broadway), and I have been talking about how we need to take one last trip there before the big move to Florida. I didn't think it was going to be so soon but boy did he get it right.

It wasn't until we got to the Newark airport that he surprised me in the middle of the terminal and said that we were hopping on the train and heading into the city. I was so excited that I might have squealed and punched him in the middle of Terminal C in front of some strangers :) Sneaky-sneaker!

He planned the most amazing birthday/anniversary weekend. Very old New York. The first stop was dinner at the 21 Club. The 21 Club.

I love anything with a rich history and this place has it and then some. A prohibition-era bar. Secret wine cellars. Bars with dropping bottle shelves for raids. Tables were people like Humphrey Bogart, Bill Gates and the Kennedys sat. And the food. Oh the food! Everything was delicious and complete with candles in the creme brulee for our anniversary. It was all fantastic and a great memory I will never forget.

But that wasn't the end of the night, not even close. An Old NY night is not complete without a show on Broadway.

I am a musical junkie. Ask any of my friends or family, especially the ones I have lived with, I will unknowingly start singing at any moment. I love a good show tune, so this was one of the best gifts I have ever received. Thank you so much honey.

After the show we decided to go grab a few drinks before heading back to the hotel, and there was only one place to go when Hubby suited up!

I love him in a suit. I think he felt like Barney. lol. Silly, sneaky man!

Oh what a night. I loved every minute of it! But that was not the end of Hubby evil plans of awesomeness oh no. The next day we went and grabbed brunch with my sister Katie, her boyfriend Ryan and our friend Bob. I always forget to take pictures during meals. I am always the one grubbing hard and forgetting to bring out the camera until someone leaves. Dang it. But I did capture one moment in time :)

Katie and Hubby in Washington Park by Kat's apartment! Yes, I caught one!
I loved my birthday/anniversary weekend. It was perfect. My Old New York night with friends and family the next day. Perfect! Did my man deliver or did he deliver? I love that man more then anything in the world. Thank you for an amazing time my love.

Birthday Eve

Tomorrow is my birthday! Does anyone else hear Dora the Explorer when they say a sentence that includes the word birthday? Haha. Anyway, tomorrow is the big day. 27 is fast approaching and I am actually looking forward to it. You hear friends and family freaking out over growing a year older, but 27 is going to be a big year for me and my family. We are moving to Florida, finding our first house, Hubby will start his new job, and maybe we'll be adding a little member to our family too. Yep, 27 is going to be a great year!
