Happy Halloween

All Hallows' Eve is today. My favorite holiday. The history, the legends, the heritage behind today. I know I love this holiday so much because it is my mother's favorite holiday. But I also think I love it so much because I grew up in a large Mexican population and we were taught about Dia de los Muertos along with Halloween. It's not supposed to be scary, but a celebration of life while remembering the loved ones that have crossed over. That is why you have fun. You decorate the graveyards, put on costumes, have festivals, dance, and offer food to everyone.

I love the heritage and tradition behind my favorite holiday. While I won't get to participate in the cultural side of it this year, I hope me and Hubby can pull together some last minute costumes and make it out tonight. Check out what we did last year:

Halloween during the week makes dressing up and going out a little tricky but we still did it! My friend Christine was a flapper and I still want the hat that she wore that night. I was a vampire/Elvira/Morticia Addams hybrid. Hubby dressed up as a Distinguished Yachtsman. It was literally what he wore to a Dining Out for his squadron the month before. They never grow up I tell ya. The whole outfit was complete with a glass of scotch and a pipe. Dressing up is not just a human thing, oh no. Even Luna is getting into the spirit!

My little pumpkin :) And yes, those are Halloween puppy PJs with candy corn and treats in the skeleton. Adorable.

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Today I don't feel like doing anything...

I just wanna lay in my bed.

Bruno Mars knows what I am talking about! The equivalent of my day is that picture of my Luna Mae. I feel so lazy. I had a whole laundry list, including the actual laundry, of things to do today and I am not feeling it. All I want to do is curl up on the couch, put on ABCFamily and watch halloween movie after halloween movie between my naps. I am exhausted and I have no excuse. I even went to starbucks and got a very large, very over caffeinated latte and I still feel like I am struggling to keep my eyes open. Grrr, why do I feel like I have been kept awake for three days against my will? I got too much to do!  Maybe I'll go back for a refill. Boo on laziness, boo.

It's Wedding Season!

Forget June weddings, it is all about Fall. I love it. October was my wedding month and I am so happy that my bestest friend Katie and her hubby Carlos decided it was the month for them too! Katie and I have been friends since we were 12 years old. She has been another sister to me. We have been through so many life events together. School, jobs, boys, just growing up into the women we are now. Katie was my Maid of Honor and now it was my turn to be her Matron of Honor. I was beyond honored to be there for her on her big day.

Let's start the weekend recap with a long photo blog day. So grab a glass of wine and get comfy.

Rehearsal Day!

Those babes are some of the bridesmaids. That's Alisa, Gina, Jade, Me, the Bride and Nicole. We all grew up together. We have all known each other for over 15 years now, some of us are going on 20. I love those girls.

Look at that adorable couple. They are beyond perfect for each other. Just look at their engagement announcement!

So freaking adorable!
After our walks down the training aisle it was dinner time. Yumm! After this dinner, I am recommending Luciano's in CC to anyone who needs a good restaurant. It is not a chain place, it is owned and operated by local people and it is damn good Italian food. Just go!

The fam and friends
The Bride and her Maids
Check out that tiara I found for the rehearsal. It says Bride on it and it is not all Pretty, Pretty Princess looking. Francesca's people : )

The one picture of me and Hubby that night :)

THE BIG DAY!

And you know what comes before the ceremony, the morning of prep! And by that I mean, lots and lots of big Texas hair and makeup!

This sign was at V Bar along with a nice spread of water, fruit and of course champagne. I was the designated bartender for the afternoon of beauty, hey it's what I do best!

Gorgeous bride and her Mama
The Beautiful Bride and all of her Maids + one Matron
It wasn't until we put the veil on Katie that it all became real. I admit there were some tears in more then one person's eyes when Katie put it on. I was one of them. You can't help but just feel so overwhelmingly happy when you see your best friend so happy that she starts crying. Katie is not much of a crier, but there were so many emotions swirling around. It was the day she would be marrying her soul mate and it all just hit her. They were the happiest tears. But before we all ruined our makeup, we hit the road and headed to the wedding venue.

Ceremony Time!

I was already crying at this point

Oh the happy tears that were shed. It was a beautiful ceremony. So full of love and happiness. Just the way Katie and Carlos wanted it. Perfection :)
As soon as the ceremony ended it was celebration time!

Yes that is a groom's cake in the shape of a skateboard. Remember the engagement picture? lol

First dance
Speeches!
I was a nervous wreck before giving my speech, I could feel my pulse elevating while the best man was delivering his speech. But my speech turned out better then I thought it would; I even drew a tear or two from the groom.

I love Hubby in a suit.

Crazies

My BFF and her Hubby are awesome people! Matching shoes, who does that? Katie and Carlos do, that's who! lol

They were always meant to be. Congratulations friends! I can't wait until I get promoted from Friend to Auntie!

What a week!

It's been a crazy couple of days! Once again I have been terrible at keeping things up here. But do not fear, I am working on a full update for tomorrow. It will include family, lots if friends, Texas and a wedding.
Stay tuned!

I am a busy little sewing bee

Remember that hint I dropped a couple of posts ago about my next project well here it is: The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters in baby form!

I think it looks adorable already and it's not even puffy yet! I'm still mulling over a few options to make it puffy but I think I am going with outside attachments. Like a puffy tummy and leg rolls that mommy will be able to remove with Velcro. Tomorrow is the big reveal and I am so excited to see what Mama Katie and Daddy Wes think of their little man's costume!

Of course pictures and a step-by-step are to follow. Keep an eye out!

Paintings, Parties and Babies!

It's Monday yall! Sorry about my lack of blogger-ness last week. I think I clocked in a total of two days, pathetic. I have not been feeling 100% with the weather changing and a cold/allergies setting in. Blah. But I did get a few things finished up this week while I was switching from my bed and couch. I finished up and sent off this Tri Delta beauty to a gal at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. That's where I went! This one will hold special place in my heart since it's going to my hometown and old stomping grounds. Go Islanders!

Then I started working on this one for Kappa Kappa Gamma to add to my shop. I love all of the blues in it!

Painting is one of my favorite things to do when I am home alone. The house is quiet and it's just me and a canvas to have some fun with. I am definitely not making a living off of my paintings, but maybe one day I will. Gotta have goals right? After the paint party, Hubby and I got to spend Saturday with one of our favorite little families.

Most adorable family ever
Adam, Stephanie and Audrey were on their way back from California when they swung by our neck of the woods before heading home to Maryland. I love to have people over at our place, and when you bring a baby as cute as Audrey over, you know I am one happy camper! She is darling.

Can you tell she found Luna's toy box?

Frisbees for all!
She thought they were some mighty fine shoes to slide around on!

fancy shoes
I think her favorite thing to play with wasn't the stuffed animals or the Fribees but Luna's crate. Just take a gander.

look mama, I'm a puppy!
It was great when she crawled into the crate with Lu watching and tried to close the door. Don't worry the adults helped of course. Luna was perfectly fine with having a roommate for 2 minutes and it made for a hilarious photo op for Mom and Dad.

I hope they can come back soon for a longer stay. Or we could go visit them. Any excuse for me to love on that little girl a little bit more. Oh the baby fever is just getting higher and higher!

Unfortunately, they had to leave at the crack of Sunday dawn so it was just Me, Hubby and Football for the day.

My 'Boys did well with a W against the Eagles but Hubby didn't fair so well. His Bears lost not only the game, but Jay Cutler and Lance Briggs for the next 4-6 weeks. To say he was upset would have been the understatement of the weekend! My poor baby was definitely not a happy camper after that. So we spent the rest of the day laying on the couch, eating left over pizza and being bumps on logs. It was my idea of a perfect lazy Sunday, with a pouty baby and all :) I love that man.
